Announcer phrases

The announcers in the game can say different things depending on what buttons you press. These are shown below:

Historical commentary Hold L1 + L2 +
R1 + R2 and press Up, Triangle, Right, Circle.

Trivia Hold L1 + L2 + R1 +
R2 and press Down, X, Right, Circle.

Weather Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 and
press X, Down, Triangle, Up.

Additional batter information Hold L1 + L2 +
R1 + R2 and press Left, Square, Up, Triangle.

Note: This only effects some
players.

Giant bat

To get a very large bat, hit two consecutive home runs in season mode.

Babe Ruth

To unlock Babe Ruth as a free agent, simply hit a home run with a pitcher in season mode

Cy Young

To unlock Cy Young as free agent, throw ten consecutive strike outs in season mode

EA Dream Team

To get the EA Sports Dream Team, first select the "Single Game" option from the
main menu. Press [Left, Right] six times at the team selection screen. The
phrase "Triple Play Baseball" will be spoken to confirm correct code entry.
Alternately, hold L1 + R1 and press Left, Right(3), X at the team selection
screen.

Hank Aaron

To unlock Hank
Aaron as a free agent, hit four
consecutive home runs or in a single game in season mode

Fire baseball

To get a baseball on fire, throw six consecutive strike outs in season mode.

Secret teams

Once you win the World Series you can play as six extra teams (in order): World All-Stars,
Puerto Rican All-Stars, Dominican Republic All-Stars, U.S.A. All-Stars,
Legendary All-Stars, and the Triple Play 2001 Dream Team.

Pencil head

To get Pencil Head, strike out six consecutive times
when batting in season mode.

Home run sounds

Press Triangle or
Square to hear air horns or Circle to hear whistles.

Satchel Paige

To unlock Satchel
Paige as a free agent, throw three
consecutive strike outs or in a single game in season mode.

Willie McCovey

To unlock Willie McCovey as a free
agent, hit three
consecutive home runs in season mode.

Strong arm

To get a strong arm, get caught stealing
more than twice in one game in season mode.

Gaint baseball

To get a very large baseball, throw nine consecutive strike outs in season mode.
